Our History

In 2015 Acadia Homes & Neighborhoods announced the creation of Post Oak Glen, a new active lifestyle community in Cumming, Georgia, that would be situated on 40 acres of former farmland in northwestern Forsyth County. The original offering consisted of roughly 95-100 ranch and two-story single-family homes, all featuring first-floor primary suites. In the beginning stage, Post Oak Glen consisted of two fully furnished model homes and a community clubhouse with pool and patio. Lots were soon offered to future homeowners along with seven floor plans all named after Georgia lakes (Russell, Oconee, Harding, Rabun, Burton, Hartwell, and Sinclair). Additional lake named floor plans were added at a later date (Juliette and Nottely). The floor plans offered approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet of living space with three to four bedrooms, two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two-car garages, and some included basements depending on the lot chosen. Many spec homes were built as well.

Post Oak Glen was built in two phases. Phase I began in the front half of both Stellata Circle and Hammock Way. Early in 2016 Acadia Homes and Neighborhoods was acquired by Taylor Morrison and the building of Phase I continued nonstop. Once Phase I was nearly built out the lots in Phase II were released and construction began in the second half of both Stellata Circle and Hammock Way.

Interesting to note, according to a USDA.gov publication, the Post Oak, aka Quercus stellata, is a medium sized tree of very durable wood that is widely used for making fence posts, hence the name Post Oak. As a result, the Post Oak Glen community can be viewed as a circle of Quercus stellata trees, Stellata Circle, joined across the middle through the center of the glen by a tree hammock, thus giving name to our street, Hammock Way.

Today Post Oak Glen is a completed community of 93 homes with a growing number of community activities gaining attention occurring both at the pool/clubhouse and in other common area spaces.

Post Oak Glen is located off of Highway 20 and is close to downtown Cumming, the Cumming City Center, the 963-acre Sawnee Mountain Preserve, and Lake Sidney Lanier, and conveniently accessible to GA 400 providing easy access to shopping at the North Georgia Premium Outlets to the North and the North Point Mall to the South.

Additional shopping, both large and small businesses, exist within Forsyth County and in the city of Cumming itself. Dining options are available locally and in surrounding locations of reasonable distance such as in the mixed-use communities of Avalon and Halcyon in Alpharetta, and in the towns of Milton, Roswell, and Canton to name a few. Abundant scenic wineries exist in the North Georgia Mountains within an hour or so drive to the North.
